Flood situation grim in India due to heavy rains. Death toll is rising and thousands have been displaced and lost all their belongings.
Over 700 people have died in India over the past few weeks as a result of floods caused by torrential rains. Immense devastation has taken place in the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, the north-eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, and pockets of Odisha and Bihar. Heavy monsoon rains have caused rivers like Brahmaputra, Sabarmati and their tributaries to burst their banks and wash away thousands of homes, devastating crops and seed-beds, destroying roads, and disrupting power and telecommunication lines.
Tens of thousands of people desperately need basic aid such as shelter, food and clean water in order to survive. Monsoon season in India runs from June to September and rains will continue in the coming days. It is expected that the number of people affected will keep increasing in the next few days.
It is a very tough situation in India right now and thousands of people need your immediate help!
Please donate generously to India Development and Relief Fund (IDRF), enabling us to facilitate relief/rehabilitation to the flood victims. We join hands with partner-NGOs with impeccable track record and ensure that your hard earned money goes in the right hands.
