VANVASI KALYAN KENDRA - INTRODUCTION

Vanvasi Kalyan Kendra a purely dedicated voluntary Organization, founded in 1969 is engaged in creating complete awareness, total upliftment of tribes & making them self-dependent. The tribal society mostly habitats in far away distant places, in deep forests, and in remote places where development could not yet reach after 58 years of independence. Tribes remained illiterate, unaware about health hazards and so remained cut off from the main stream of the society. Vanvasi Kalyan Kendra which is an registered State body of Akhil Bhartiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, which is the largest voluntary organization of our country, dedicated to voluntary works among tribels. Vanvasi kalyan Kendra’s main objective is to make tribels literate, health conscious, self-dependant and to make them conscious about their identity & cultural heritage so that they can preserve their ancient culture with pride.

The social & political exploitation of tribes have led to great difference between societies, which is causing group rivalries, cast, & creed violence. All these can only stop when awareness for social differences & group collision and bad evils are rooted out. It is very essential that tribes & non-tribes of newly created Jharkhand state should live together in peace & march forward for development, prosperity & bright future of the state & nation.

In these efforts Vanvasi Kalyan Kendra established One Teacher Schools

ONE TEACHER SCHOOL: - Where there is no educational facilities, One Teacher Schools have been established and in those schools one educated & trained man/lady is engaged in teaching boys & girls of village for three hours daily. Children are educated there to have basic educational needs. In these one-teacher schools students are prepared up to class V standard in five years duration.
