Meet rural women who are rising above gender discrimination and poverty. Hear, in their own words, how being part of a self-help group has empowered them, with higher incomes, healthcare, and greater control over their lives.
Founded in 2004 in just ten villages, this program covers 7,000 women in 100 villages today. With intensive training from our partner NGO Arpana, these women have become community leaders. Self-help groups administer microcredit loans, counsel expectant mothers, and organize hundreds of events on critical development issues, from female feticide and disease prevention.
