Monsoon rains in Kerala are lashing the state, where rivers have overflown, causing landslides, collapsing bridges and submerging houses. More than 164 people  lost their lives  so far and over 230,000 becamehomeless. This calamity has caused immeasurable misery and devastation in India‚Äôs southern state, the worst in almost a century!

A red alert has been announced in the state and troops have been deployed to carry out search and rescue missions. Hundreds of relief camps have been opened at various locations to accommodate the flood victims. Camp officials are providing hot food and medicines to the victims to prevent infections.

The Meteorological Department is forecasting more heavy rains in the state in the coming days as well. As the flood situation in Kerala continues to be in danger, there is no respite of water overflowing from the rivers.
